Description

Akerman is hiring a Director of Attorney Professional Development to report to the Chief Human Resources Officer and own the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of professional development programming for attorneys from junior associates through equity partners. The role covers senior-attorney leadership, practice management, business development, succession planning, lateral partner support, associate development, AI and legal technology integration, firmwide training infrastructure, performance measurement, and reporting to firm leadership. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, at least 10 years of professional development or talent development experience, and experience designing programs for senior professionals; the position may require travel to Akerman offices.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Required Previous Experiences: 10+ years of professional development, training, or talent development experience with exposure to law firm or professional services environments.
Experience designing and delivering professional development for senior professionals, including partners or executives.
Experience building professional development programs that drive measurable behavioral change.
Experience with change management and introducing structured development expectations to previously untrained populations.
Experience integrating AI and technology-related content into professional development curricula.
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree or J.D.
Experience in an AmLaw 100 or comparable professional services environment.
