Description

The Dispatcher I receives and evaluates emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, fire, and EMS; dispatches response units; searches criminal-justice databases; maintains records; communicates with callers and agencies; and performs equipment and center maintenance. This is an entry-level, trainee-level position reporting to Communications management and training supervisors, with a 7-day, 24-hour schedule requiring day, swing, graveyard, rotating, holiday, and weekend shifts. Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent, computer and telephone/radio customer-service experience, typing ability, background investigation clearance, and completion of prescribed training.
