Description
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking a district-level structure and bridge engineering leader to assist the District Section Engineer and District Bridge Engineer with management of an engineering section and its bridge safety inspection program. The role oversees National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS), AASHTO, and VDOT-compliant inspections, bridge inventory and PONTIS prioritization, load-rating analyses, structural repair guidance, consultant contracts, budgets, project delivery, quality assurance, stakeholder communications, and staff supervision and development. The position requires a civil or structural engineering degree, a Professional Engineer license, an FHWA-approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course, bridge inspection and load-rating expertise, management experience, and a valid driver's license.
