Description

The Dredge Operator is responsible for operating power-driven dredges to excavate and maintain navigable waterways and mine sand from lakes, rivers, and streams. The role includes controlling hydraulic pumps, suction booms, cutterheads, engines, winches, and depth gauges; inspecting equipment; maintaining work areas; and complying with MSHA safety regulations. Applicants need a high school diploma or GED, prior dredge experience preferred, pump knowledge, heavy-equipment experience, boat operation ability, and the ability to swim at least 50 yards. The position requires outdoor work in adverse conditions, long periods of sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, and availability for 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
