Description

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services is seeking an Assistant Secretary for the Developmental Disabilities Administration to lead the organization through a major transformation. The role oversees a workforce of more than 4,000 employees, eight direct reports, and a biennial budget of approximately $6.2 billion, while establishing priorities, strengthening coordination and accountability, building relationships with legislators and federal partners, and advancing community-centered service delivery for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred but not required, and executive-level experience leading complex programs and organizations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred. Applications are accepted through September 4, with priority consideration for those received by that date, and the Assistant Secretary is anticipated to be appointed as early as November 2026.
