Description
The Educational Interpreter supports deaf and hard-of-hearing students by interpreting and transliterating lectures, discussions, tests, films, assemblies, and extracurricular activities; providing tutoring; collaborating with teachers and school staff; participating in educational team meetings; orienting staff on hearing loss and interpreter use; and promoting student self-advocacy. The role requires a BA or associate’s degree in Educational Interpreting, an EIPA score of 3.5 or RID registration, knowledge of sign language and reverse interpretation, and the ability to work in a school environment. It is a full-time, 185-day calendar position with Monday through Friday hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend work and travel between buildings.
