Description
The Educational Interpreter for the Deaf reports to the Special Education Teacher and provides independent communication support to deaf and hard-of-hearing students in school and home settings. Duties include interpreting lectures, discussions, tests, films, assemblies, student comments, and communications among students, parents, and staff; assisting with programs for students with disabilities; developing language, articulation, and academic skills; supervising students; and participating in staff meetings and professional development. The position is 40 hours per week on a school-year schedule, pays $30.96–$37.67 per hour, and requires a high school diploma or GED plus either the EIPA and written test or RID certification with a passing written test.
