The Embalmer performs respectful preparation of human remains, including verification of identification and authorization, restorations, removals, transfers, dressing, hair styling, and cosmetic application. The role also maintains the preparation room and facility, cleans soiled equipment and hazardous-material spills, manages chemical and supply inventory, receives caskets and funeral-home supplies, and follows applicable licensing, safety, and universal-precaution requirements. A high school diploma or equivalent, mortuary-college graduation or other required degree, applicable state or provincial licensing, and a current driver’s license are required; two years of experience in a 200-call-per-year funeral-home embalming facility is preferred.
