Description

Andromeda Robotics is hiring an Embedded Linux / Kernel Engineer to own and improve the Linux platform running on its Abi humanoid robot. The role covers NixOS and kernel configuration, device bring-up, hardware integration, provisioning and flashing tools, OTA and platform upgrades, debugging boot, networking, Wi-Fi, cameras, storage, and other peripherals, and building diagnostics, testing, recovery, and documentation. The engineer will work closely with firmware, electrical, autonomy, AI, and product teams and contribute to platform reliability, deployment, and next-generation robot interfaces.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Required Previous Experiences: 3–6 years of relevant experience in embedded Linux, systems programming, robotics software, platform software, or a closely related area
Experience working close to hardware on embedded or robotics systems
Experience debugging real-world issues using logs, shell tools, hardware documentation, schematics, datasheets, and disciplined root-cause investigation
Familiarity with kernel drivers, boot processes, device trees, BSPs, networking, storage, update systems, or hardware interface protocols
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Linux kernel development, kernel module work, or upstream/open-source Linux contributions
Experience with embedded ARM platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, or similar systems
Experience with robotics or other reliability-critical embedded products
Experience with provisioning, OTA updates, secure boot, disk encryption, rollback, or recovery workflows
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, manufacturing support tools, or field diagnostics
Experience with Nix or NixOS, or strong interest in learning it
Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 or adjacent robotics tooling
Experience improving internal developer tooling for low-level or embedded teams
Experience using systemd to configure, operate, and debug services on embedded Linux systems
