General Matter is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to develop low-level control software, real-time runtimes, and device drivers for test stands and production systems. The role focuses on deterministic, safety-critical software on Linux-based real-time operating systems, industrial fieldbus masters, scientific instrumentation drivers, automated build and validation infrastructure, safety analysis, debugging, and integration with hardware and controls teams. Candidates need a STEM bachelor’s degree or higher and at least five years of embedded, real-time, or low-level systems software experience, with strong C, C++, or Rust skills. The base salary is $125,000–$250,000 annually, with possible stock options and medical, vision, and dental coverage.
