Douglas County Emergency Management is hiring Emergency Communications Specialists, also known as dispatchers, to provide 24/7 emergency and non-emergency communications support for law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, and other public safety agencies across Douglas County, Nevada, and Alpine County, California. The role involves answering 9-1-1 calls, providing lifesaving instructions, dispatching responders, maintaining CAD and criminal-justice databases, coordinating with agencies, and supporting training and quality assurance. It is full-time shift work with rotating day, swing, night, weekend, and holiday assignments, includes a 6-8-month training period, and requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of customer service or general full-time work experience, a valid driver’s license, and completion of specified emergency dispatch and communications training.
