Description
The Emergency Medical Technician provides pre-hospital emergency medical care and Basic Life Support under general supervision, responding to trauma and illness, operating ambulances and quick-response vehicles, assessing and transporting patients, communicating with medical and public agencies, documenting care, maintaining equipment, and participating in training and special operations. The role follows a 24/48 shift schedule, with integration into a 24/72 schedule beginning in January, and offers state benefits including state retirement. Applicants need a high school diploma or GED, relevant EMS training, one year of EMS program experience or an equivalent combination, approved emergency vehicle and Basic Life Support training, and a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
