Description

Newmont is hiring a permanent Engineer, Backfill for its Tanami mine in the Northern Territory, Australia. The role reports to the Superintendent, Geotechnical and Backfill, and is responsible for establishing backfill management plans and standards, supporting paste, co-disposal, and rockfill stopes, conducting numerical and hydraulic modelling, monitoring fill quality, inspecting paste infrastructure, tracking production, contributing to mine plans, managing contractors, and mentoring team members. The position requires an engineering, geology, science, or related degree, underground mining experience with geotechnical or backfill exposure, proficiency with design packages such as Deswik or Cad software, FLAC-3D or similar numerical modelling skills, Microsoft Office and SAP skills, and full and unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia. It is a fly-in-fly-out role based on-site at the mine, with accommodation provided and a roster of eight days on and six days off from Perth, Darwin, Brisbane, or Alice Springs.
