Description
The Engineer/Conductor operates trains, freight cars, and locomotives in rail yards and on the main railroad, controlling switches, throttle and brake systems, air brakes, couplings, and train movements while complying with railroad rules and FRA regulations. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2–3 years of train services experience, a valid state driver’s license, FRA Conductor and Locomotive Engineer certifications, and the ability to pass post-offer health and operating-rules examinations. It involves a 24-hour schedule, nonstandard workweeks, overtime, and various shifts, with physical demands including lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and extended standing or walking.
