The role reviews architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, energy conservation, green building, accessibility, and egress plans for code compliance; coordinates with public agencies; authorizes building permits; advises engineers, architects, contractors, builders, and the public; and supports building officials and counters. Applicants need a bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering or a related field, three years of relevant experience, and must obtain a PE license and ICC certification as a condition of hire.
