Perplexity is seeking a technical leader to steer its API Platform engineering team through rapid growth. The role combines technical and team leadership across distributed systems, high-traffic API design, performance optimization, agent orchestration, reliability, testing, and AI evaluation. Responsibilities include designing and operating mission-critical APIs, defining technical strategy for scaling customer and compute demand, overseeing hiring and mentorship, and coordinating with engineering and business executives. The role requires entrepreneurial leadership, Python proficiency, strong API and AI experience, and at least 8 years of engineering experience, including 3 years as an engineering manager.
