Description
Illumio is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and grow a team of backend engineers building scalable cloud services and AI-powered platform capabilities. The role owns technical strategy for distributed systems, APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native applications; partners with Product, Security, Infrastructure, and Data Science; helps shape AI and agentic workflows; establishes reliability and observability practices; mentors engineering managers and senior engineers; and drives staffing, roadmaps, and architectural reviews. The position requires 10+ years of distributed backend experience, 3+ years leading software engineering teams, and expertise in Java, Go, Python, microservices, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and event-driven systems, with production reliability experience.
