Description

Rakuten Viber is hiring an Engineering Manager for its data department to lead Data Engineering and Machine Learning teams, build and scale a self-service data platform, architect batch and streaming pipelines processing tens of billions of events daily, and drive production machine learning systems with measurable business impact. The role requires engineering management and large-scale distributed systems experience, hands-on expertise with Spark, Storm, or Flink, Java and Python in AWS, and familiarity with modern ML, infrastructure, lakehouse, analytics, and LLM technologies.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: At least 3 years of engineering management experience leading Data, Machine Learning, or Software Engineering teams in production.
At least 6 years of experience building large-scale distributed systems in Data Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, or Software Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications: Ownership of production-grade data or machine learning platforms and stakeholder adoption.
Experience building ML platforms, feature stores, or self-service data infrastructure at scale.
Deep experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, SageMaker, Kubernetes, and Argo.
Experience with Iceberg, Athena, ClickHouse, data catalogs, and data quality frameworks.
Experience deploying LLM-based systems or AI-driven infrastructure in production.
