Optimal is hiring an Engineering Team Lead for a permanent full-time role that combines hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and people leadership. The role contributes to scalable system design and delivery, shapes engineering strategy and architecture, manages a small engineering team, explores AI for developer productivity, partners with Product and Design, and leads site reliability practices. Candidates should have people management experience, a product mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and experience with React, Ruby on Rails, AWS, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD technologies. The role is remote or hybrid from the Wellington office and can be based anywhere in New Zealand or Australia.
