Description

The Charlotte Lab School is seeking an Exceptional Children's Assistant Teacher for the 2025-26 school year. This full-time, 10-month position involves supporting students with high needs, assisting teachers in instructional planning and delivery, supervising students, participating in IEP development and implementation, and collaborating with families. The role requires experience with elementary-aged students and a commitment to working with diverse populations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Associate's Degree or two years of higher education equivalent to 48 credit hours
Required Previous Experiences: Experience working with elementary-aged students
Experience working with students with high needs’ students or be able/willing to learn how to fulfill the responsibilities listed above
At least 2 years of relevant experience in a mental health or human service program preferably working with behaviorally complex children
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in inclusive classrooms using co-teaching and differentiated instruction
Trained or licensed in restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and Active Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI)
Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or a related field
Comfort with technology and experience with Google Apps for Education
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, start-up environment both independently and as part of a team
Experience in, or passion for, working with diverse populations
