The AKC Inspector conducts routine and complaint-driven inspections of breeders, kennels, and pet stores to verify compliance with AKC rules and regulations. The role prepares detailed inspection reports, collects DNA samples, provides testimony at Trial Board Hearings, manages inspection schedules and follow-up, and requires extensive travel throughout an assigned territory. Candidates need 4–7 years of inspection, investigative, compliance, or research experience, purebred-dog involvement, AKC knowledge, and strong documentation and communication skills. The position is primarily field-based, may require overnight travel and hearings, and offers a salary of $54,000–$60,000 per year.
