Description
The External Transfer Coordinator is a registered professional nurse who facilitates the transfer of patients, including spinal cord and trauma patients, to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The role coordinates patient placement, communication between sending and receiving hospitals and physicians, bed assignment, supplies, equipment, insurance verification, utilization management, and clinical appropriateness of care. It also supports performance improvement, data analysis, staffing coordination, and interdepartmental collaboration. The position requires an Illinois-licensed or Illinois-eligible Registered Nurse, a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and at least two years of acute-care experience.
