Description
The External Transfer Coordinator is a registered professional nurse who coordinates transfers of patients, including spinal cord and trauma patients, to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The role manages patient placement, communication between sending and receiving facilities, bed assignment, supplies, equipment, insurance verification, cost of care, and clinical appropriateness of services. It also supports utilization management, performance improvement, data analysis, staffing coordination, and interdepartmental collaboration. The position requires an Illinois-licensed or Illinois-eligible registered nurse, a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and at least two years of acute-care experience.
