The role defines long-term infrastructure strategy, solves complex distributed-systems and AI infrastructure challenges, leads architectural and reliability initiatives, drives developer productivity and infrastructure efficiency, advises executives, mentors senior engineers, and represents LinkedIn externally. It is a hybrid role and requires a master’s or PhD in a relevant field plus 20+ years of software engineering experience focused on infrastructure, distributed systems, storage, databases, or related areas. The disclosed pay range is $335,000 to $548,000, with additional compensation potentially including bonuses, stock, benefits, and incentives.
