Google is hiring a Firmware Engineer for its Modem Reliability team to improve the performance and stability of cellular protocol stacks on consumer hardware. The role focuses on debugging and mitigating Access Stratum Layer 3 issues, evaluating 3GPP features and carrier requirements, collaborating with Android, Pixel Mobile Wireless, IMS, carriers, and vendors, and building automation and diagnostic tools. Candidates need a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, five years of cellular protocol stack development experience, three years of 3GPP standards experience, three years of C/C++ and embedded software experience, and three years of modem feature and certification experience.
