OpenAI is hiring a Firmware Engineer to define and drive the architecture of embedded systems for next-generation robotics hardware. The role owns firmware decisions across real-time execution, device bring-up, hardware interfaces, fault handling, safety mechanisms, and production readiness, while also leading architecture, reviewing designs, building prototypes and production systems, establishing reliability and testing practices, and mentoring engineers.
