Description
Tovala is hiring a Senior Firmware Engineer to design, build, test, and ship firmware for its connected ovens across two fleets: a mature Electric Imp/Squirrel fleet and a new ESP32-based fleet. The role owns bug fixes, features, performance improvements, automated test pipelines, bench and fleet testing, root-cause analysis, and firmware development practices, while collaborating with thermal, mechanical, quality, manufacturing, operations, and backend teams. Candidates need 5+ years of professional firmware or embedded software experience, strong C/C++ and embedded systems fundamentals, Python and Bash experience, embedded interface and network-stack knowledge, CI/CD and automated testing experience, and hands-on AI-assisted development experience. The role is hybrid, with a strong preference for candidates based in or near Chicago, Illinois, or Urbana, Illinois, and primarily remote work is possible for the right candidate.
