Description

Qualcomm Canada ULC is hiring a Principal Firmware Engineer to lead embedded firmware development for SerDes PHY IP used in data center, AI/ML, automotive, and compute applications. The role owns firmware architecture, C/C++ implementation, silicon bring-up, validation, diagnostics, SDKs, and production delivery, while mentoring engineers and coordinating with hardware, systems, DV, and application teams. The position requires a BS/MS in a relevant engineering field and 7+ years of embedded C/C++ firmware experience, with leadership experience and strong silicon-debug skills; SerDes, high-speed IO, calibration, RTOS, Python, and digital-design knowledge are preferred.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: 7+ years of embedded C/C++ firmware development for hardware IP or SoCs
Technical or team leadership experience in embedded software projects from specification through production
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of SerDes and high-speed IO standards
Experience with calibration algorithms, signal conditioning, and adaptive feedback control
Experience in silicon bring-up and post-silicon debug
Experience in pre-silicon firmware development
Knowledge of RTOS or bare-metal firmware architectures
Python and Bash scripting for lab automation and testing
Familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog, simulation, and design verification flows
Exposure to the OSI model, especially physical and data link layers
Understanding of signal processing concepts
