Michigan State University’s Department of Theatre is hiring a full-time, one-year fixed-term Assistant Professor, Instructor, or Assistant Instructor of Scene Design starting August 16, 2026. The role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in scene design, media design, scene painting, drafting, and integrative studies in the arts and humanities; participating in departmental productions; supervising scenic painters and properties artisans; and mentoring student designers. Candidates should have an MFA or MA in scenic design preferred, or a BA/BFA with significant professional experience, plus college teaching experience and proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks.
