Description
The Fleet Technician independently performs vehicle and equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostic testing, and routine to difficult repairs on District motor vehicles and transit equipment. Responsibilities include engine, transmission, differential, brake, electrical, computerized control, fuel, cooling, suspension, tire, and emissions work; emergency field repairs; heavy-equipment testing; tool fabrication; recordkeeping; and road calls. Qualifications include equivalent 12th-grade education plus two years of specialized technical or vocational training, three years of increasingly responsible automotive or fleet maintenance experience, a valid New Mexico driver’s license, and potentially a CDL-A or CDL-B with a multi-passenger P endorsement and airbrake certification.
