Description

Icarus is hiring a Flight Test Engineer to plan, execute, analyze, and close the loop on flight tests for its solar-powered aircraft. The role owns test cards and criteria, instrumentation and telemetry requirements, real-time monitoring, parameter changes, data pipelines, root-cause analysis, and engineering reports. It requires an aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering degree, flight-test experience, data-analysis and scripting skills, Linux proficiency, and willingness to travel to remote test sites. The position offers a US base salary of $125,000–$185,000, equity, and health, dental, and vision insurance.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's or graduate degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or a related engineering discipline
Required Previous Experiences: Experience in flight test, developmental test and evaluation, or a closely related discipline
Experience planning and executing flight test, ideally including first-flight or build-up test programs
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with fixed-wing flight test fundamentals, including test card design, envelope expansion, and test criteria
Experience as a test director or test conductor
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or unmanned aircraft experience
Background building RC or UAS aircraft
Experience in a flight test program at an early-stage company
