Description
The role directs a group or team of shop employees involved in production, repair, or material-handling work and supervises hourly employees, welders, painters, plant clerks, and similar staff. Responsibilities include determining procedures, equipment, supplies, and manpower; assigning and scheduling employees; monitoring quality, safety, and cost standards; coordinating materials and equipment; maintaining equipment; and consulting with engineers and quality assurance inspectors. The position requires a high school education supplemented by drafting, industrial technology, or related coursework, plus 4–5 years of plant operations and supervision experience or equivalent training.
