Description

E Source is hiring a Forward Deployed Data Engineer IV to join its AI and Data Engineering team and embed with utility clients. The role owns end-to-end data platform engagements, from technical discovery and architecture through production deployment, handover, and post-go-live support. Responsibilities include building ingestion, transformation, orchestration, quality, governance, and serving systems; leading migrations; modeling data; integrating utility systems; making pipelines observable; and delivering operator-facing applications. The position is remote within the United States with significant client-site travel and requires a bachelor’s degree, at least five years of data engineering or data platform experience, and strong Python, SQL, Databricks, Spark, and AWS skills. The budgeted salary is $175,000–$200,000 USD plus an annual bonus, with medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefits.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: Five or more years of data engineering, data platform, or analytics engineering experience, including at least one platform owned in production
Experience building cloud-based data pipelines in AWS
Experience in the energy or utility industry or another asset-heavy sector
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in a relevant STEM field
Graph database and knowledge graph modeling experience
Production experience with streaming platforms and change data capture tooling
Experience building feature pipelines and serving data to machine learning and artificial intelligence systems
Experience building and deploying Databricks Apps or comparable operator-facing applications
Experience optimizing Databricks cost and performance
Databricks certification
Working knowledge of a second cloud ecosystem
