Description

AWS is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to lead pods of Forward Deployed Engineers embedded with strategic enterprise customers. The role owns delivery execution, technical direction, production AI-system quality, customer adoption, and team development across one or more concurrent customer engagements, with up to 25% travel. Candidates must be US citizens, hold an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, and have substantial software development and engineering-management experience. The position is available in Denver, New York, Arlington, and Seattle, with annual base salaries ranging from $184,900 to $275,200 depending on location.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: At least 3 years of engineering team management experience
At least 7 years of non-internship professional software development experience
Current active US Government TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
At least 3 years of experience in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment
Experience communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
Experience building or deploying AI/ML applications in production environments at scale
Preferred Qualifications: Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems
Experience working in customer production environments
Experience managing teams in customer-facing or consulting-adjacent engineering roles
Background leading engineering teams in a startup, high-growth, or rapidly scaling environment
Prior experience with React, TypeScript, Python, and/or Go
Experience managing delivery across multiple concurrent customer programs
At least 3 years of leadership development and talent management experience
