Description
The Bus Operator drives a bus along an established route on a predetermined schedule, announces stops and cross streets, collects and validates fares and transfer cards, assists passengers, prepares the vehicle and trip sheets, and reports problems to the Control Center. The role requires passing drug and alcohol testing, being at least 21 years old, maintaining an acceptable driving record, and holding a valid Illinois Class B CDL or a CDL permit with Knowledge, Passenger, and Air Brakes endorsements. The starting salary is $28.85, and the position involves standing, lifting, driving, and exposure to traffic, weather, vehicle conditions, and other transportation hazards.
