Description
The Bus Operator drives a bus along an established route on a predetermined schedule, announces stops and cross streets, collects and validates fares and transfer cards, assists passengers, prepares the bus for service, and reports problems to the Control Center. The role requires a valid Illinois Class B CDL or a CDL permit with Knowledge, Passenger, and Air Brakes endorsements, a clean driving record, drug and alcohol testing, and the ability to perform physically demanding driving and passenger-service tasks. The starting salary is $28.85, with the rate determined by the applicant's entered service date and service date in a union jurisdiction.
