Description

Shield AI is hiring a Guidance Navigation Control (GNC) Engineer to research and develop algorithms for high-performance flight on a blue-sky project. The role requires a relevant engineering degree, substantial experience in vehicle dynamics, flight controls, or simulation, production C++, Matlab and Simulink, aircraft dynamics and control expertise, and experience tuning control systems in simulation and real-world environments. The position is full-time and requires the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering with a focus on Control Systems
Required Previous Experiences: 7 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, or 6 years with a master's degree, or 4 years with a PhD, or equivalent experience in vehicle dynamics modeling, flight controls, or simulation
Production C++ experience
Matlab and Simulink experience
Experience tuning and optimizing control systems in simulation and real-world environments
Preferred Qualifications: Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering field with a focus on Control Systems
Modern control theory experience, including LQR/LQG, adaptive, robust, or model predictive control
Ability to extract linear aircraft state-space models from nonlinear equations of motion
Experience designing or selecting servos, inertial navigation systems, air data units, or vision-based navigation systems
Familiarity with Kalman filters
Familiarity with system identification techniques
Familiarity with Git, continuous integration, and delivery
