USA TODAY Co., Inc., through The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and the USA TODAY NETWORK, is hiring a government and public policy reporter in Lubbock, Texas. The reporter will cover government, public policy, Texas Tech University, and regional issues through watchdog and public-interest journalism; produce articles, videos, photos, and other digital content; analyze public records and data; use AI and automation to enhance reporting; collaborate with editors and content teams; and engage audiences across digital and social platforms. The role is hybrid, combining work in the downtown Lubbock newsroom with field reporting, and requires 1–2 years of reporting experience or equivalent experience, strong AP style and copy-editing skills, visual storytelling ability, a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and availability for extended, evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
