Description

April is hiring a Hands-on AI & Data Engineering Manager to lead engineers building AI-powered consumer experiences. The role combines engineering management, technical leadership, architecture ownership, LLM and agent development, data pipelines, product analytics, experimentation, and production operations. The manager will guide teams through research, experimentation, deployment, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement of AI systems while translating business goals into technical roadmaps.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 6+ years of software engineering experience building production-level systems
2+ years of engineering management or technical leadership experience
Strong experience building large-scale backend systems in Python
Experience developing modern web applications using React, Next, Angular, or Vue
Experience deploying and operating LLM-based systems in production
Strong understanding of data pipelines, experimentation, and product analytics
Experience with Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services
Experience with prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and vector databases
Experience building AI agents or autonomous workflows
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ADK, A2A, LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex
Experience with gRPC and protobuf-based architectures
Experience building MCP servers
Background in data engineering, experimentation platforms, or ML infrastructure
