Description

Qualcomm Canada ULC is hiring a Staff Hardware Design Engineer for its Application Engineering team to support optical DSP, Active Electrical Cable, and optical transceiver solutions for AI and cloud infrastructure. The role owns evaluation-board development from specification through validation, leads bring-up and debugging, supports customer optical transceiver integration, and performs signal and power integrity analysis. Candidates need 5–8 years of high-speed hardware development experience, strong PCB and SerDes expertise, and knowledge of PAM4, signal integrity, power delivery, and laboratory debugging. The listed pay range is $121,000 to $171,000.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field, with 4, 3, or 2 years of relevant hardware engineering experience respectively.
Required Previous Experiences: 5–8 years of high-speed hardware development experience, including PCB design for high-speed SerDes or optical transceiver design.
Hands-on experience with evaluation-board design, bring-up, validation, and debugging.
Experience with schematic capture, PCB design review, and hardware development processes.
Experience using laboratory equipment for evaluation-board bring-up.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with signal integrity simulation tools such as HFSS.
Experience with optical transceiver design.
Experience with thermal analysis and mechanical integration.
Knowledge of PCB stack-up design and high-speed materials.
Experience with manufacturing qualifications and production support.
