The City of Oakland's Human Services Department, Head Start Division, is hiring a Head Start/Early Head Start Assistant Instructor to support instruction of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers; develop age-appropriate activities; observe and document developmental assessments; prepare classroom materials; conduct safety drills; organize daily activities; prepare meals; support outreach and parent conferences, and assist with enrollment. The role requires six units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development, with additional Infant/Toddler coursework for Early Head Start, and no prior experience is required. Applicants must obtain a California Child Development Assistant Teacher Permit within six months and Pediatric First Aid and CPR certifications within one year.
