Description
The County Landfill Operations Specialist performs heavy equipment operation, waste compaction and grading, equipment maintenance and repairs, landfill monitoring, and public assistance at a county landfill. The role requires considerable knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, heavy equipment, landfill operations, grading, drainage, and C&D and LCID landfill regulations, along with independent judgment, teamwork, and the ability to work indoors and outdoors in extreme weather. A high school diploma or GED, moderate heavy-equipment experience, a North Carolina driver's license, and the ability to obtain NC SWANA Landfill Operations Specialist certification within six months are required.
