Smithfield is hiring a Herdsperson to support routine animal care and general farm tasks at a hog production site. The role focuses on feeding, watering, vaccinating, moving animals, sanitation, piglet processing, recordkeeping, and basic facility/equipment maintenance while following animal welfare, safety, environmental, and biosecurity procedures. The position is hourly at $16.00, requires hard physical labor and a 48-hour workweek with weekend, evening, holiday, and on-call availability, and prefers a high school diploma or GED plus prior livestock handling experience.
