The High Voltage Substation Technician commissions, tests, installs, and maintains medium- to high-voltage substation power delivery equipment, including protection and control systems, relays, transformers, breakers, and SCADA, while also mentoring apprentices and junior technicians. The role requires field testing and commissioning experience in substations, familiarity with specialized manufacturer test equipment and relay testing software, and the ability to work safely in adverse weather and on rotation/out of town.
