Description
The role leads the development of HTS magnet technology for the STEP prototype fusion plant, including the small test coil, short cable, and magnet materials programmes. It involves producing technology development plans, leading a multidisciplinary team, executing bench-scale and sub-scale test campaigns, and communicating technical findings to diverse audiences. The position requires a relevant engineering degree, professional chartered status, HTS magnet and multi-physics expertise, experiment design skills, and experience with project and budget management. It is based at either West Burton, Nottinghamshire or Culham, Oxfordshire, with onsite work expected three days per week and a salary of £64,115 plus a specialist allowance.
