Description

SGS is hiring an Ignition SCADA Specialist to design, implement, and support modern SCADA solutions for oil and gas, utilities, and manufacturing clients. The role covers Ignition HMI and dashboard development, MQTT and edge computing, PLC and industrial-protocol integration, database and gateway deployment, OT cybersecurity, client project delivery, commissioning, and mentorship. It is a hybrid position based in Calgary with travel to western Canada and occasional on-call availability, with a permanent salary range of CAD 90,000–125,000 per year.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related technical discipline
Required Previous Experiences: 4–10 years of hands-on experience with SCADA, IIoT, or industrial control systems
Experience developing HMI and operator interfaces on a modern SCADA platform
Working knowledge of MQTT and Sparkplug B in industrial contexts
Working knowledge of industrial protocols including Modbus, OPC UA, EtherNet/IP, and DNP3
Proficiency in Python/Jython, C#, or Java and ability to write production scripts within Ignition
Experience with relational databases and Ignition database integration
Preferred Qualifications: Inductive University training completion and/or Ignition Core or Gold Certification
Experience with Cirrus Link modules and Sparkplug B implementation
Exposure to AVEVA Enterprise SCADA (OASyS) in mixed or migrating environments
Hands-on PLC configuration experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider systems
Experience with Ignition Edge or other edge-of-network deployments
Familiarity with Active Directory, Hyper-V, VMware, and Windows/Linux server administration
Project coordination experience or formal training in project management
Exposure to IEC 62443 or NIST 800-82 cybersecurity frameworks
Experience with Snowflake, Canary, AVEVA PI System, or Flow Software historians and analytics platforms
