Description

Langara College is hiring a permanent Indigenous Student Support Specialist in Vancouver, BC to provide academic and student-life advising, lead Indigenous student programming and events, support policy and strategic Indigenization initiatives, and collaborate with campus partners, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers to improve Indigenous student success, retention, wellness, and experience. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, at least five years of related experience, strong intercultural and administrative skills, and knowledge of Indigenous cultures and post-secondary systems.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as First Nations and Indigenous Studies
Required Previous Experiences: 5 years of recent related experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment
Experience researching and developing policies advancing Indigenization strategy
Experience creating and implementing student recruitment and orientation strategy
Experience developing student success and leadership programming
Preferred Qualifications: Project management and change leadership experience
Knowledge of Canadian post-secondary systems and academic policies
Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and histories of British Columbia
Experience working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers
Trauma-informed practice
Conflict mediation
