Description

The City of Marietta is seeking an experienced Inspector Code Enforcement to join their Development Services department. The successful candidate will be responsible for enforcing city codes and zoning ordinances, inspecting residential buildings for hazards, condemning unsafe structures, preparing demolition orders, and maintaining detailed records. They will also conduct field investigations, respond to citizen complaints, and educate the public on building and zoning regulations.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 5 years related code enforcement experience in housing and/or zoning code enforcement.
Preferred Qualifications: Must have International Codes Congress (ICC) Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certifications or must obtain within the working test period. Certification must be maintained throughout employment.
Must have a valid Class C Georgia driver’s license and a satisfactory driving history.
Knowledge of approved methods and materials used in building construction.
Ability to use a PC and skill using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and other related applications.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to enforce city and zoning codes firmly, tactfully, and with impartiality.
Thorough knowledge of Standard Housing Codes, city and county zoning regulations and the ability to interpret these appropriately.
Ability to recognize violations or potential violations of codes and ordinances to recommend their correction.
Ability to perform a limited Title searches to determine or locate property owners.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, building owners, tenants, and the public.
