GitLab is hiring an Intermediate Backend Engineer to own backend features from requirements through production delivery and follow-up. The role involves building secure, observable, performant APIs, background jobs, integrations, and bounded services; writing and reviewing automated tests; investigating runtime issues; and collaborating with Product Management, Frontend, Infrastructure, and Security in a remote, asynchronous environment. Candidates should have professional production backend experience, strong programming and API fundamentals, and practical experience with AI coding tools; Ruby/Rails, Go, Rust, cloud deployment, observability, and related technologies are helpful.
