Description

The Interpretation Specialist develops and delivers educational interpretive programming and experiential learning opportunities for visitors of all ages and abilities across the Garden’s venues. The role provides visitor information, maintains interpretive displays and resources, supports safety and First Aid/CPR, performs opening and closing duties, and contributes to departmental projects. It requires an associate degree in a relevant field, strong communication and research skills, weekend and evening availability, and CIG and First Aid/CPR certifications.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Associate degree in education, science education, ecology, environmental science, natural resources, public horticulture, interpretation, recreation, or an equivalent combination of skills, education, and experience.
Required Previous Experiences: One to three years of experience developing, preparing, and delivering engaging educational opportunities for diverse audiences.
Experience researching and developing interpretive programs and experiential learning opportunities.
Experience working with audiences of diverse ages, ethnicities, experiences, and educational backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Strong presentation, public speaking, communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
Organizational and problem-solving skills.
Process design and improvement skills.
Ability to prioritize, perform under pressure, and manage time.
